How have you been?

Alvina has been busy celebrating her birthday! She’s had a joint party for years with her friend Miguel and a work friend. After Greg passed away, Alvina started having the traditional joint parties again! COVID got in the way last summer. Grace is catching up on life after some busy trips. She was in Syracuse, NY on a panel there with Linda Sue Park, Ellen Oh, and Susan Tan talking about their anthology, You Are Here. Grace also was in Utah at the BYU Symposium for Young Readers. She may have experienced altitude sickness in Utah!

Birthdays and Aging and our relationship to both

Grace and Alvina talk about their birthday experiences from a young age and how they celebrate them now as adults.

Aging: Grace and Alvina approach 50 and talk about ageism. Why does it matter? Is there an advantage to looking older in a work environment? The book friends talk about ageism in certain industries.

Grace and Alvina talk about colonoscopy’s, perimenopause, menopause, brain fog, and positively embracing getting older. Don’t regret getting older because it’s not a gift given to anyone.
