Episode #218: Touring! -with a special guest!

Grace and Alvina and special guest, sometimes co-host Stephen Colman, discuss everything having to do with touring, including their best and worst experiences and some tour and travel hacks.

“How have you been?”

Grace is happy because there weren’t any major airport or travel snafu’s during her book tour. Many people came to her events and she is so grateful for all the support.

Stephen enjoyed seeing Grace on tour! Alvina and Stephen had an entire row to themselves on two flights by random chance!

Alvina reflects on their California tour of her friends and family.

Touring

Stephen and Grace talk about their experiences with touring. Stephen did most of his touring from 1998-2003 performing poetry at college campus’s for the most part. It was a way to still do what they love and support themselves. Stephen talks about the best parts and the lonely parts of traveling solo on tour. Grace talks about school visits vs book touring.

Grace and Stephen share their best and worst tour experiences and give some great advice.

The last thing we purchased and why…

Alvina: A whole Dungeness crab and a CAL sweatshirt.

Stephen: Reece’s pieces mini’s and sunglasses!

Grace: A cookbook called, Let’s Make Dumplings, by Hugh Amano and Sarah Becan! ( a graphic novel on how to make dumplings)

Gratefuls:

Alvina is grateful for her old friends and family that she visited with Stephen. Stephen is grateful for them too as they are now HIS friends too. Grace is grateful for Justina Chen and Janet Wong who she traveled with many years ago promoting Asian American literature. Grace is also grateful for teaming up with John Cho!
